As a mother, there is nothing more important to me than my son's health and happiness. When he was younger, I noticed that his teeth were crooked and crowded. I took him to see a dentist, who recommended that he see an orthodontist.
The orthodontist said that my son would need to wear braces for several years. I was hesitant at first, knowing how expensive braces can be. But I also knew that it was important for my son to have a healthy and beautiful smile.
We started the orthodontic process, and my son quickly got used to wearing braces. He was a good patient, and he always cooperated with his orthodontist.
Over the next few years, we went to the orthodontist's office for many appointments. My son had to get X-rays taken at every appointment. The orthodontist also had to take pictures of his teeth and make molds of his mouth.
It was a long and expensive process, but it was worth it in the end. My son's teeth are now perfectly straight and beautiful.
One of the most frustrating aspects of the orthodontic process was dealing with the dental records. The dentist and orthodontist used different software systems, so they couldn't easily share my son's records. This meant that we had to bring CDs with his dental records to every appointment.
I also had to pay to have his dental records transferred between the dentist and orthodontist. This was an unexpected expense, and it was frustrating to have to pay for something that I should have already had access to.
In the end, I'm grateful that my son was able to get the dental care he needed. But I'm also frustrated by the fact that the dental industry is still so fragmented and inefficient. It should be easier for patients to share their dental records with different providers. It should also be easier for patients to access their own dental records in a digital format.
